The Nevada volleyball team fell to Boise State on Saturday morning. The Broncos won the first set in 25-12. The Pack was able to make a comeback and win the second set in 26-24 but fell the last two in 25-17 and 25-20.
Leading the Pack was freshman Sia Liilii with 12 kills, nine digs, followed by junior Sydney Petersen with 11 kills, one service ace, and one block assist. Junior Andrea Alcaraz led the team assists with 21, and 11 digs, and one service ace while redshirt senior, Chelsea Vaughan had 20 assists throughout the match.
In set one, the Broncos took an early lead and Nevada was not able to get a close score. Boise State closed the set in 25-12. Leading the Pack was Liilii with three kills.
In the second set, the Pack put together a great offense, combined with great serves kept the Broncos out of the system, leading to a tie game all the way to 24-24. Petersen with the assistance of Chelsea Vaughan was able to close the set 26-24.
Hoping to continue the momentum, Nevada went off to a great start but was not able to hold the Broncos after a five-point score run in the set. Boise State closed the set in 25-17.
On set four, Nevada was able to keep a tie the game up to 10-10. The Broncos made a four-run score and the Pack was not able to catch up, closing the game in 25-20 and the match in 3-1.
The Nevada volleyball team will be back at the Virginia Street Gym on Thursday, Oct 7 for a match against Colorado State, and on Saturday, Oct 9 will play against Wyoming.
