Nevada soccer falls to Hornets (Nevada athletics)

On Sunday night, the Nevada soccer team fell to the Sacramento State Hornets 3-0 after a long week from their last competition.

The first half was quiet for both teams during the match. Neither team scored, plenty of fouls were called, and lots of saves and shots were accumulated in the first 45 minutes. The second half is where the game would see a lot of success from the Hornets.

About 20 minutes into the second half, senior Samantha Craig from Sacramento State scored the first goal of the game. It was assisted by sophomore Jordan Goularte. The Hornets would score within the next minute after senior Julia Herrera assisted freshman Abigail Lopez for her second goal of the season. Lastly, senior Ele Avery scored the third and final goal of the game, which was assisted by Lopez.

The end of the game would see the Pack finish with 19 total shots. Freshman Trinity Sandridge led the team with four, while both senior Hana Law and junior Lizzy Hairston were behind her with three each. Junior Emily McCue, who made her first career start with the Pack, had five total saves in the game. Two in the first half and three in the second half. Both teams would finish the game with 12 total fouls each.

The team will look to bounce back with two home matches this weekend against Cal Baptist on Thursday and the University of Idaho on Sunday.
