TMCC Women’s Soccer fell to Salt Lake Community College 2-0 on Saturday.
SLCC possessed very well in the first half, keeping TMCC on their heels for most of the opening 45. The Mighty Lizards would play well defensively, however, keeping the Bruins chances to a minimum. Salt Lake would post just three shots to the Lizards one, and have trouble breaking down TMCC’s tough defensive unit for the entire half.
The two squads would go into the half scoreless. Despite struggling to possess, the Mighty Lizards did well to contain a strong SLCC squad with good defensive work all around. The Bruins were unable to convert on a plethora of set piece opportunities, with TMCC defenders being quick to clear out chances from SLCC.
SLCC would open the scoring in the 51st minute, when forward Layla Garcia netted a good strike from just outside the penalty box, putting the Bruins up 1-0.
The Mighty Lizards would do well to mitigate second-half pressure. While SLCC would challenge TMCC six times in the second half, the defensive unit for TMCC held strong. Excellent play from freshman Jenna Bosetti and Colby Bera kept the game within reach for TMCC until the final minutes.
Salt Lake would put up a second score in the 89th minute, with Cecilia Norman punching one through to seal the result for Salt Lake.
TMCC will be back in action on Saturday, September 25 from Craig, CO, when they take on Colorado Northwestern for the first time this season. Kickoff is set for 12:00PM and the match will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
