TMCC’s women would fall to the College of Southern Nevada by a score of 3-4 on Saturday.
Following Thursday’s tough 2-1 loss to Community Christian, TMCC’s Women kept the intensity up in the first of two matches against in-state rival Southern Nevada. After falling behind in the first half, the Mighty Lizards rallied to put two in and nearly drew even against their Las Vegas foes late.
CSN drew first blood, netting a score in the 17th minute off the foot of midfielder Leslie Garcia. However, TMCC would answer back quickly, getting on the board when freshman Jenna Bosetti would sneak one past Coyotes goalkeeper Shayna Thompson to knot things up at one.
The Coyotes Skylar Farrington would return the favor five minutes later, putting CSN up 2-1 around the half hour mark. The second year defender’s score would be followed by two more from Grace Sedillo and Annabelle Olivero, putting the visitors up 4-1 at the half.
Staying resilient, TMCC would make some adjustments at the break and create chances with ease during the final 45. TMCC would eventually cut their deficit to two when Yanitzia Perez-Galvan found the net in the 60th minute.
Just six minutes later, Perez-Galvan would secure a brace, netting her second score of the day and fifth of the season off a corner kick from sophomore Isabel Gonzalez, bringing TMCC to within one. Perez-Galvan would finish the match with a game high four shots, two attempts on target, and two scores.
TMCC would continue to fight as the second half wore on, working hard to pull even. Two late chances from Perez-Galvan and freshman midfielder Aaliyah Enciso nearly pushed the contest to extra time, but TMCC would be unable to convert.
For the match, the Mighty Lizards outshot the Coyotes 16-10, putting up 10 shots in the second half.
Women’s Soccer returns to action next Saturday, September 18 in their home pitch when they welcome Salt Lake Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., and the match will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
