Three local high school athletes have recently signed with or committed to play for the Nevada Wolf Pack.

McQueen High's Maddy Shipman (cross country/track & field) and Makayla Webber (softball) participated in signing day ceremonies at the school Tuesday while Reno High's Lina Strand (volleyball) also committed to Nevada.

Webber, a two-way softball player, hit .433 with five steals, seven homers and 24 RBIs in 20 games during the shortened senior season. She posted a 1.428 OPS. Webber also tallied a 3.63 ERA in 61.2 innings in the circle. Her commitment to Nevada was originally announced last November. That class also includes Reed High catcher Alycia Coats.

Shipman is a newcomer to distance running but finished fifth in the Northern 5A Regional cross country meet with a time of 20 minutes, 27 seconds. In track and field, she finished third in the 800 meters, second in the 1,600 meters and was on medal-winning relay teams in the 4x400 and 4x800.

Strand was a member of 4A Northern Region championship teams at Reno High in 2018 and 2019 and led the state with 114 digs in eight matches as a senior. The libero added eight kills and eight aces this year. Strand had 267 digs as a junior, the last complete high school season of her career.
