The Mighty Lizards secured their first win in 2021 conference play on Saturday, taking down Colorado Northwestern 4-0. 28 shots total headlined the victory while TMCC’s defense held the hosts shotless in the clean-sheet effort.

The Mighty Lizards wasted no time jumping ahead, scoring in the sixth minute off the foot of Daisy De La Torre-Jimenez, assisted by Katelyn Norris. Allyson Mora would double the Lizards advantage in the 19th, when Allyson Mora bagged an unassisted score.

Norris led the charge for TMCC on the afternoon, netting a third score in the 77th minute. The freshman attacker tallied six shots for the match, putting three on target. Sophomore Yalison Espinosa followed closely behind with five shots taken across 64 minutes.

All but four Mighty Lizards would see chances to score on the day, with the Lizards 28 attempts taken by 13 different players.

First year forward Jenna Bosetti would tack on one more goal before the final whistle. The Vacaville, CA native put one through for her second score with the Mighty Lizards this season.

TMCC’s women will be back in action this coming week, when the Mighty Lizards return home for two matches with Snow College and Utah State Eastern. Both contests will be streamed live on the Lizards Sports Network.
