Wolf Pack star Nicola Ader was named the Mountain West track and field athlete of the week after a record-setting performance at the Rice Twilight in Houston last weekend.
Ader set the school record in the long jump, besting her own mark with a distance of 6.34 meters. The previous best in school history was 6.29 meters. The new jump earned her a silver medal at the Rice Twilight. It's the best in the event in the MW this season ahead of UNLV's Jonon Young, who has a leap of 6.30 meters. Ader's 6.34 meters ranks 29th in the nation this season.
Ader also ranks at the top of the MW in the heptathlon with a point total of 5,077, which ranks 46th in the nation this season. She is third in the conference in the high jump at 1.73 meters. Her time of 14.13 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles ranks Ader seventh in the conference.
Ader and the Wolf Pack track and field team next compete at the West Coast Relays in Clovis, Calif., on Friday before competing at the MW Outdoor Championships. Ader is a six-time All-American after making nationals in the pentathlon during this indoor season. That's the most All-American honors for a Nevada track athlete.
