Nevada sophomore Kendall Fritz was named the Mountain West's pitcher of the week after leading her team to a 4-1 record last week.
The right-hander from Frisco, Texas, went 2-0 with a save in four appearances. She posted a 1.24 ERA and allowed just three earned runs in 17 innings. Fritz struck out 22 batters in 17 innings, including a season-best 11 strikeouts in the season opener against Saint Mary's.
Fellow starter, Blake Craft (2-1), also had a stellar week, pitching to a 1.02 ERA in three appearances over 13.2 innings. Nevada has a 1.07 team ERA in its first five games.
Last season, Fritz went 8-5 with a 2.56 ERA over 84.2 innings before the season was canceled due to COVID-19.
Nevada returns to action this week in the Dixie State Classic playing Washington on Friday, Dixie State, Utah Valley and BYU on Saturday and Montana on Sunday.
