Nevada golf coach Jacob Wilner completed his 2021-22 roster with the addition of Arkansas State transfer Adam Thorp on Friday.
“We are excited to add Adam to the Wolf Pack family and to complete our roster for next season,” Wilner said in a news release. “Adam will bring a lot of experience and success with him to campus this fall. We had a big task of replacing three graduating seniors and I couldn’t be happier with our talented returning players and our three new signees.”
Thorp spent two seasons at Arkansas State and will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Wolf Pack. The Australia native played a significant role with the Red Wolves, competing in 16 events during his two seasons. Thorp compiled a scoring average of 75.06 in those two seasons and posted three top 10 finishes, including a career-best tie for fifth at the Border Olympics during his freshman season.
Last season, Thorp opened the year with a tie for seventh at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate where he finished at 3-under par and recorded a career-low round of 67 in the second round. He also aided in Arkansas State qualifying for NCAA Regionals following the 2020-21 campaign.
Prior to his time at Arkansas State, Thorp joined the likes of Tiger Woods and Jason Day as a winner of the IMG Junior World Championship. He also captured titles at the NSW Country Junior Championship, Belconnen Open, Fairbairn Open and Belconnen Club Championship. In 2018 Thorp was a finalist for the ACT Sport Minister’s “Rising Star” award. Additionally he served as the captain of the ACCT State boys team for the 2017 Pacific School Games and was his age group winner at the Jack Newton International Junior Classic.
Thorp will join Quim Vidal Mora and A.J. Lintunen as the three new additions to the Wolf Pack in 2021-22.
