After leading her team to a win and a draw last week, Nevada freshman Emily Rich was named the Mountain West offensive player of the week. She also was named the conference's co-freshman of the week.
Against New Mexico, the freshman played 98 out of 110 minutes in the double-overtime matchup and scored the Wolf Pack's lone goal in the 1-1 draw. The goal came in the 77th minute off an assist from Luz Arreaga.
In a 3-2 win over San Diego State, Rich rallied the Wolf Pack out of a 2-0 halftime hole by assisting on two goals in the second half, including Olivia Fothergill's game-winner in the 89th minute. This win against the Aztecs is the first in school history.
Rich, a freshman from Clovis, Calif., leads Nevada in goals (three goals), assists (three) and points (nine). She has nine shots, including six on goal, in her rookie campaign.
Nevada started the season 1-8-1 but is 2-0-1 in its last three matchups, including the draw with New Mexico and win over San Diego State last week, teams that entered their games against Nevada 8-1 in MW play. The Wolf Pack (3-8-2) returns to action at Colorado State on Friday.
