Galena High had nearly 20 athletes take part in a signing day ceremony Tuesday at the school.

Among the signees is basketball player Jack Cherry, who will walk on at Oregon State. The Beavers won the Pac-12 Tournament last season before advancing to the NCAA Tournament's Elite 8 as a No. 12 seed. Cherry originally committed to Oregon State in April.

Cherry is a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard who averaged 14.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a junior in 2019-20. The state of Nevada did not have high school basketball last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which cost Cherry his senior season. A lefty, Cherry made 121-of-286 field goals (42 percent), including 43-of-126 threes (34 percent). He also sank 60-of-86 free throws (70 percent).

Among other Galena High athletes going to Division I colleges are Hannah Hartley (Nevada women's basketball); Zander Simone (Nevada cross country); Reese Wells (Boise State track and field); Bella Flocchini (San Jose State soccer); and Ian Gilligan (Long Beach State golf). Gilligan overcame cancer during his high school career and is the three-time Northern 5A Region individual champion.

Here are highlights from Cherry's junior season at Galena.
