Nevada freshman Blake Craft was named the Mountain West pitcher of the week Tuesday, the first weekly honor of Craft’s career.

The Yuba City, Calif., native went 2-0 in the circle as the Wolf Pack took two of three games against Boise State last weekend. In seven innings, Craft posted a 1.00 ERA and limited Boise State batters to a .250 batting average. Craft gave up zero extra-base hits in two games. In Nevada’s 3-1 win on May 14, Craft tossed five innings and gave up one run on four hits while striking out two. Craft entered the series finale in the fourth inning with the game tied at 4-4. In two innings, Craft limited Boise State to zero runs on two hits and secured the series finale win for the Pack.

“Blake is proving to be a force in the circle,” Nevada head coach Josh Taylor said in a news release. “Her determination to be the best will propel her to more of these honors in the future.”

Craft is the third Nevada softball player to earn a MW weekly honor this season. Pitcher Kendall Fritz and shortstop Lauren Gutierrez were both selected twice. The last time two Wolf Pack players earned pitcher of the week honors in the same season was 2016.

Nevada finished the season 24-16 overall and 13-8 in MW games.
