Nevada has signed transfer middle blocker Brianna Souza.

RENO, Nev. – Adding another member to the 2018 Nevada volleyball squad, junior Brianna Souza has signed to play for the Wolf Pack, transferring from Butte College.

Souza will add some depth at the net in the middle blocker position. Sizing up at 5-11, the junior transfer brings with her several all-conference accolades and was even named a Freshman to Watch by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2016. She led all other middles in the Golden Valley Conference in kills in 2016 with 384, helping lead Butte College to a championship.

“Brianna is going to be a great addition to our team,” head coach Lee Nelson said. “She’ll bring some experience to a relatively young team and really help make an impact this season.”

Souza originally hails from Chico, Calif. where she attended Pleasant Valley High School. A tri-sport athlete, Souza earned several all-league honors in track and basketball as well as leading her volleyball team to back-to-back section championships.

Graduating with her associate degree from Butte College, Souza plans on entering nursing school down the road. She is the daughter of Ron and Janey Souza.
