An extra-inning two-run home run from Dallas Millwood pushed the Pack over the Broncos, 12-11 in nine innings. Nevada is now 25-21 on the year and 9-9 in Mountain West play after taking the Sunday game of the series.
Joining Millwood in the home run festivities was fellow freshman, Danielle Lew who had a three-run homer in the top of the three. Kenzi Goins also tallied a home run, a two run blast in the fourth, before Millwood knocked her second of the game in extra innings.
Millwood recorded a season high five RBIs while Lew had three of her own along with Goins and Ashley Salausa. Millwood and Goins were the only Pack members that had a multi-hit and multi-run game.
Kendall Fritz started in the circle and pitched 3.2 innings with eight earned runs charged to her before Kali Sargent came in relief. Sargent pitched effectively, only allowing two earned runs with two strikeout; she got the win and is 5-8 on the season after her 5.1 innings pitched.
Things got going fast off a two-run home run from Millwood in the top of the first and the Pack added more damage in the top of the third scoring six runs. Three of those came from the Lew home run but the other three were single RBIs knocked in from Millwood and Salausa. Nevada was up 8-0 heading into the bottom of the third.
Boise State answered with three runs in the bottom of the third and held the Pack to just two runs in the fourth before the Broncos added five in the fourth to bring the score to, 10-8.
The Broncos held the Pack scoreless until extra innings after an RBI double in the fifth and an RBI fielders choice that forced a run down that ultimately ended in a run scored, 10-10.
The game ended after the Pack was up 12-10 heading into the bottom of the ninth and the Broncos scored a sac fly but was unable to respond after a strikeout from Sargent.
Next up for the Pack is a home three-game series against in-state and southern foe, UNLV, May 3-5 with the first game on Friday at 4:00 pm PT.
