Knowledge Smith, a true freshman defensive back, announced on his Twitter page Wednesday night he will transfer out of Nevada.

The Missouri City, Texas native joined the Wolf Pack this season as part of the team's 2018 recruiting class. He was a two-star recruit who also held FCS scholarship offers.

Smith, who is 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, did not appear in a game this season, making it his redshirt campaign. In his tweet, Smith said he was transferring due to "family problems and personal issues" while adding "in order for me to grow and get to the places I want to go I think it's in my best interest to transfer." He wished the Wolf Pack luck on its upcoming bowl game.

Smith is the fourth known transfer out of Nevada in the last month, joining wide receiver McLane Mannix, safety Nephi Sewell and tight end Trevion Armstrong. If Smith transfers to an FBS school, he'd be required to sit out a season. If he transfers to an FCS school, he can play immediately.
