Nevada divers open MWC Championship meet strong

A young woman from halfway around the planet has exploded onto the Mountain West Conference swimming and diving scene. True freshman diver Sharae Zheng (Chengdu, China) scored 334.25 in six dives to take the 1 meter title on day one of the 2016 Mountain West Conference championship meet in College Station, Texas. Carson City's Krysta Palmer placed second in the event with a score of 331.5. Nevada took four of the top six positions in the one meter competition and is the fourth year in a row that a University of Nevada diver has won this event. The Nevada swimming and diving team entered the championship with a meet record of 10-0 this season. The Mountain West Conference meet runs through Saturday.
