Full preview of Nevada softball at National Invitational Softball Championship

The Nevada softball team will host a National Invitational Softball Championship Regional this week, with play beginning Thursday at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park. Here's an overview of the event.


The NISC Regional is a four-team double-elimination tournament. The winner of the regional advances to next week’s finals in Fort Collins, Colo.


There are four teams participating in the Nevada Regional and they were seeded according to RPI. The higher RPI side will be the home team in each game. They are:

No. 1 seed Fresno State (RPI 61, 36-18, 14-10 Mountain West)

No. 2 seed Loyola Marymount (RPI 74, 35-18, 11-4 West Coast)

No. 3 seed Nevada (RPI 105, 27-25, 11-13 Mountain West)

No. 4 seed UC Riverside (RPI 155, 26-25, 8-13 Big West)


All games at Hixson Park


No. 1 Fresno State vs. No. 4 UC Riverside, 1 p.m.

No. 2 Loyola Marymount vs. No. 3 Nevada, 4 p.m.


Losers bracket game, 10 a.m.

Winners bracket game, 1 p.m.

Losers bracket game, 4 p.m.


Championship game, 12 noon

“If necessary” game, 3:30 p.m.


Thursday/Friday games

$10 per day ($5 for seniors and children in eighth grade or younger)


$15 per day ($10 for seniors and children in eighth grade or younger)

Buy online and print at home, or available at the park (cash/check only)


All games of the tournament will be broadcast online via the Mountain West Network.

Of note

* The school's clear bag policy is in effect.

* All seating is general admission. Outfield seating in the grass is available.

* Because this is a postseason tournament, there are no Nevada season tickets or other Wolf Pack ticket programs or passes (including Pup Club) being accepted.
