1. Bishop Manogue:
Behind an incredible 6 touchdown performance from Peyton Dixon, the Miners routed standing 4A Champion Reed 50-7 en route to their first win of the season.
Things seem to be clicking early for Head Coach Ernie Howren in his second season with the Miners.
2. Damonte Ranch
A senior quarterback in Cade McNamara with an arsenal of receivers including younger brother Kyle McNamara makes an interesting new dynamic duo in south Reno.
With experience on both sides of the ball following a 28-0 win against Granite Bay out of California - The Mustangs look complete and primed for to return to a 4A Championship.
There's something brewing in Northwest Reno as Jim Snelling and company opened their season to an impressive 51-14 win.
Senior running back JD Kolb had a monster performance for the Lancers. Kolb would finish with 18 rushes for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, the senior would also have 1 scoop and score and 1 interception touchdown, 5 total scores for the future Air Force commit.
4. Spanish Springs
The Cougars opened their season with a loss to California out of San Ramon but bounced back with a 47-13 rout of Nevada Union.
Spanish Springs opened the game to a 21-0 score after 2 touchdown passes from Tristan Szabo and a 1 yard scoring run by Colby Preston.
Szabo, a sophomore quarterback, picked apart California completing 24 of his 32 passes for 378 yards and 6 touchdowns.
After trailing 27-6 against Lower Lake, the Senators proceeded to score 28 unanswered points to open their season to a 34-27 win.
Running back Chance Smith rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. He's filling in Able Carter's shoes nicely.
