The Spanish Springs boys and girls won the 4A northern regional titles. The Cougars girls edged out the Miners 52-47 in overtime. Jada Townsell gave Spanish Springs the lead with two free throws with less than 10 seconds left. The Cougars boys hung on to defeat the Raiders 50-49. Mason Whittaker posted 18 points & 6 assists for the Cougars and Trey Hummel followed with 18 points.
The Churchill County boys defeated Elko 53-51 in double overtime to win the 3A northern regional title. The Fernley girls defeated Truckee 50-47. The Vaqueros are northern regional champions for the first time in 22 years.
The Incline boys defeated West Wendover 68-60 to win the 2A northern regional title. The Incline girls defeated White Pine 36-19 to win the 2A northern regional title.
All 12 teams will head to the state tournament next week at Lawlor Events Center.
