Coronado boys' golf edges out Galena to win the state title

The Coronado Cougars had a two stroke lead over the Galena Grizzles heading into day two of the state golf tournament.

After a back and forth battle, the Cougars would take home the 4A state title as a team, defeating the Grizzlies by 10 strokes on Tuesday afternoon at Somersett Golf & Country Club.

For the individual title, there was a tiebreaker between Galena sophomore Ian Gilligan and Coronado senior Michael Sarro as the senior would come out on top by two strokes.

Nevada Sports Net's Shannon Kelly caught up with Gilligan and Galena head coach Jim Tabucchi after the match.
