Helping lead the Nevada volleyball team to three wins in the Holiday Inn Express, sophomore outside hitter Kayla Afoa has been named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week.

Afoa put together a fantastic performance over the weekend. Recording a double-doubles in each of the three matches, giving her four on the year, and set new career highs. The first was a career high in kills with 18 against Northern Illinois marking a .369 attack percentage and against Virginia, set a career high with 44 attacks.

The Honolulu native sealed her spot on the All-Tournament team along with being named MVP.

Currently, Afoa sits in second on the team in kills with 72 while ranking sixth in conference. Nevada as a squad ranks second in kills in the Mountain West with 286, just behind UNLV with 315.

The Pack is 5-1 on the season, the best start to a season since 2002, and returns to the road on Sept 7 and 8 for the Sacramento State Tournament.
