After an official visit over the weekend — JuCo prospect Justin Johnson took to social media to announce his commitment to Nevada.
Johnson, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound wing player originally from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., played last season for South Georgia Tech, a junior college in Cordele, Ga.
He averaged 18.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 1.3 assists and 2.5 turnovers per game as a freshman. Johnson shot 46.7 percent from the field, including 30 percent from three, and 59.6 percent from the free throw line.
Johnson had offers from Louisiana Tech, Florida International, Albany, Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Drake, Illinois-Chicago, IUPUI, Kent State, Missouri State, Stetson, UMBC, Florida International and Western Kentucky. His visit with the Wolf Pack last weekend was his first official.
Johnson will be eligible to play in the 2020-21 season with two years of eligibility.
Nevada has two more open scholarships in the 2020 recruiting class, although a fourth would be available if the team doesn't fill its open 13th scholarship spot for this upcoming year. Alem Huseinovic, a guard from Scottsdale, Ariz., is the only verbal commitment in Nevada's 2020 class.
