Nevada Wolf Pack boys and girls basketball camps start next month

The Nevada basketball programs will hold their annual youth camps this summer.

The camps are open to all boys and girls entering the 3rd-7th grades. The men's program will hold three camps: June 24-27; July 8-11; and July 22-25. Each will be held at Lawlor Events Center and Ramon Sessions Basketball Performance Facility.

They run Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and include individual and group instruction with technique, drills and fundamental work. The camps also include game competition and contests with equal playing time; daily offensive and defensive instruction; qualified coaches from all levels, including the Wolf Pack staff; daily guest speakers; and a free camp T-shirt.

Camp cost is $250 per player, with a sibling discount available (50 percent off the second registered camper). The camp is free to any child who is eligible to participate and is a child of a Nevada athletics employee.

Women's basketball

Wolf Pack Shootout (Coach pay in full: $400)

June 14-15: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

This camp is designed for teams with each team guaranteed four games.

June Elite Camp ($40) – Girls entering grades 7-12 and graduating seniors

June 28: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This camp is designed to improve your skills at the guard and post positions. Guards and posts will work on the basics as well as learn new moves from the University of Nevada women's basketball staff and players. During camp there will also be games and competitions.

August Elite Camp ($80) – Girls entering grades 7-12 and graduating seniors

August 2: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This camp is designed to improve your skills at the guard and post positions. Guards and posts will work on the basics as well as learn new moves from the University of Nevada women's basketball staff and players. During camp there will also be games and competitions.

Day Camp – Girls and boys entering grades 4-12

Session 1 ($225) - June 10-13: Times vary per day

Session 2 ($190) - August 5-7: Times vary per day

Day camp is for players who are serious about improving their game. Extra emphasis will be placed on specific techniques — offensive moves and defensive position. Teaching breakdowns will include position work, ball handling, shooting, rebounding, as well as other skills. Contests and competitions will also be held throughout the week.

Other sports
