Nevada wide receiver Jeshua Fixel, a walk-on from Excel Christian High in Sparks, was arrested Friday morning and charged with DUI, above legal limit, first offense.
Fixel, who is 18, was pulled over by the Reno Police Department and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility at 2:43 a.m. Friday morning. The DUI charge is a misdemeanor.
"We were disappointed to learn of this incident this morning and we are in the process of acquiring more details at this time," Nevada spokesperson Chad Hartley said in a statement to Nevada Sports Net.
Fixel has been redshirting as a true freshman this season and has been serving as a member of Nevada's scout team in practices.
At Excel Christian, Fixel was named first-team all-league as a junior and senior after totaling 3,694 rushing yards and 75 total touchdowns, including 52 rushing, in his career. He added 16 sacks, 11 interceptions and 13 forced fumbles on defense. He walked on with Nevada prior to the start of this season.
