The Midland Missile will land in Lubbock.

Former Nevada wide receiver McLane Mannix, who announced earlier this month he was transferring, committed to Texas Tech on Wednesday.

Mannix played for the Wolf Pack the last two seasons, catching 107 passes for 1,653 yards and 13 touchdowns. The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder was a freshman All-American in 2017.

Mannix said he enjoyed his time at Nevada but had to move closer to home due to family concerns over his mom. Lubbock is about 2 hours north of Midland, where Mannix grew up and starred in high school. He originally committed to Vanderbilt before switching his pledge to Nevada shortly before signing day.

Mannix led the Wolf Pack in receiving yards (875) and receiving touchdowns (seven) this season. He will join a Texas Tech team breaking in a new coach next season. The Red Raiders fired Kliff Kingsbury after a 5-7 season and replaced him with former Utah State head coach Matt Wells.
