Murray's AP Top 25: Washington State the big riser; Ohio State stumbles

Mike Leach has Washington State atop the Pac-12 heap.

Nevada Sports Net columnist Chris Murray is one of 61 voters in the college football AP Top 25 poll. Here is a look at the biggest movers and shakers in his poll this week as well as his full ballot.

Team on the rise

* Washington State: College GameDay visited Pullman and the Cougars didn’t disappoint, upsetting Oregon, 34-20, after leading 27-0 at halftime. Washington State’s lone loss this season is to USC and the Cougars earned a big jump from unranked on my ballot last week to No. 14 this week, which is tops among Pac-12 schools. Oregon is No. 16 and Washington is No. 17. All Pac-12 schools other than Wazzu have at least two losses in 2018.

Team on the fall

* Ohio State: Not good Buckeyes. Not good at all. Ohio State dropped a 49-20 decision to an average Purdue team, yielding 539 total yards and 28 fourth-quarter points en route to getting routed. I moved the Buckeyes from No. 2 on my ballot to No. 9, although you could argue for a steeper decline. Ohio State will have a tough time explaining this loss to the playoff selection committee in December.
