For the first time in school history, Nevada has a preseason AP All-American.

Senior guard Caleb Martin was one of six players to make the All-America team announced Tuesday, tying with Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ for the final spot.

The team also includes Purdue guard Carsen Edwards, the top vote-getter who appeared on 63 of 65 ballots, North Carolina forward Luke Maye, Duke freshman R.J. Barrett and Kansas big man Dedric Lawson. Martin and Happ are the first players to tie for the fifth spot on the AP All-America team since 2012-13.

A transfer from North Carolina State, Martin tested the NBA draft waters this offseason with twin brother, Cody, before both returned to school. He had a breakout first season at Nevada, leading the Wolf Pack to a Mountain West championship and the second Sweet 16 in school history.

Martin averaged 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while being named the MW player of the year in 2017-18. The Wolf Pack enters this season with even higher aspirations and was voted No. 7 in the preseason AP Top 25, which was released Monday.
